The Benefits of the Network
Municipal heat planning offers many opportunities to shape the heat supply of the future in a way that is responsive to residents’ needs, thereby strengthening trust in municipal governance. However, it also presents challenges, particularly for smaller municipalities. “How much will this all cost?”, “What subsidies and support are available?”, “How can we manage this as a smaller municipality?”, “What happens next once the municipal heat plan is in place?”—these are likely some of the questions you are asking yourself. Networks help answer these questions and navigate municipal heat planning and its implementation through the exchange of experiences and input from experts.
How?
Networks for municipalities, cities, energy suppliers, and technology providers facilitate the exchange of information both among participating municipalities and with other stakeholders and experts. This allows for the identification of common challenges, enabling other network participants to benefit from heating plans that have already been implemented.
What?
You will, of course, be informed about the basics of municipal heat planning as well as the necessary steps. Regular meetings (3–4 meetings per year) form the core of the program. In addition to a general exchange of experiences, these meetings will feature input from experts and presentations of practical examples.
How long?
A network typically has a duration of 3 years after its establishment and can be extended thereafter at the request of the participants. In this way, the network not only assists with the implementation of municipal heat planning but also continues to support the municipalities in realizing subsequent transformation projects involving the use of new heating technologies.
