Brief portrait

Weidmüller is a leading provider of solutions for the electrical connection, transmission and conditioning of energy, signals and data in industrial environments. The company develops, produces and sells electrical connection technology and electronics products worldwide. Through a worldwide network of application specialists, Weidmüller offers engineering services and develops application-specific solutions. Our office was commissioned to carry out a variant analysis, supported by an economic feasibility study, for cooling the office space using alternative energies, specifically with the use of groundwater, which is located at a depth of 2 meters.

A water analysis was commissioned for the site at the same time as the variant analysis, which showed that the limit values for dissolved iron in the water were greatly exceeded. This could lead to “sooting” of the heat exchanger. Due to this fact, the variant with the use of groundwater was not investigated further and other applications for cooling were examined
