Brief portrait
The energy concept for Tonna Prison takes into account the upcoming requirements for the modernization of the heat generation system. The analysis takes into account the current political, economic and technological framework conditions. The aim was to develop a sustainable and future-oriented solution that meets the requirements of the RL-Bau Thüringen, in particular the guidelines on climate protection and energy saving, as well as the relevant state parliament resolutions.
Based on economic criteria and compliance with 65% renewable shares, the use of 4 CHP units for the base load with an air-water heat pump was recommended. The CHP unit can be operated with biogas or hydrogen in the future. The concept strengthens the JVA's self-sufficiency and makes an important contribution to reducing fossil fuels and lowering energy and operating costs in the long term.
